Intermountain Healthcare, a pioneer in superior healthcare services, is seeking a dedicated Child Life Specialist Adaptive Care in our pediatric division. This role is pivotal in enhancing our pediatric care services by offering psychological and practical support tailored to children with special healthcare needs. The specialist will employ therapeutic play, education, and advocacy to assist children and their families in navigating the healthcare environment, consequently reducing fear, anxiety, and pain.
Evaluate the individual needs of children and families to provide tailored support.
Implement therapeutic interventions such as medical play and preparation, coping strategies, and educational activities to help children and families understand medical procedures.
Collaborate with healthcare providers to advocate for the patient’s best interest and ensure adaptive care is provided.
Facilitate safe, therapeutic play activities to assess developmental levels and aid emotional comfort.
Train hospital staff on interacting sensitively with pediatric patients with specific health issues.
Maintain comprehensive records of patient interactions, interventions, and outcomes.
Strong understanding of child psychology and development.
Ability to design and implement therapeutic interventions.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in managing stress in high anxiety situations.
Knowledge of healthcare procedures and terminology.
